S and J Contracting was founded by Scott Tolley and Jonathon Hensley in 2002 — the "S" and the "J". Scott brings 23 years in the trade. Together, the goal from day one was simple: build a remodeling company that homeowners could actually trust — one that quoted honestly, showed up reliably, and delivered work that lasted.
The kitchens and bathrooms we work on today aren't all that different from the ones we started with — most of the housing stock in the Tri-Cities was built in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Kitchens were dark and closed-off. Bathrooms were dated in ways that made buyers walk away. We saw how much a well-executed remodel could change a home — and a family's life in it.
What we also saw, early on, was how many homeowners had been burned. Contractors who quoted low to win the job and then found every excuse to add charges. Crews that started a project and disappeared. Work that looked fine at first but failed within two years. We decided that wasn't us.
Twenty-three years later, our business still runs on neighbor referrals. That tells you everything.
