Tile & Flooring FAQs

How long does a tile shower take to install?

A standard tile shower runs 5–8 working days from demo to grout cure. Larger walk-in or curbless showers can run 7–12 days. We seal everything and wait the full cure window before turning the water back on — no shortcuts.

Do you waterproof the substrate behind shower tile?

Always. We use cement board with a topical waterproofing membrane (Schluter Kerdi or RedGard depending on scope). Waterproofing is the layer that prevents the kind of slow mold-and-rot problem that destroys shower walls 5 years later.

Can you install over existing tile or do you have to rip it out?

Sometimes — on floors it can be done if the existing tile is bonded well and the height change won't cause door/threshold issues. On showers we recommend tearing out and re-waterproofing because covered substrate problems compound.

What's the difference between LVP and laminate flooring?

LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is waterproof and built to handle kitchens and bathrooms. Laminate has a fiberboard core that swells if it gets wet. For any room that might see spills, LVP is the right pick.

How long after installation can we use the bathroom or kitchen?

Tile floor — walk on it after 24 hours of grout cure. Tile shower — wait 72 hours before water exposure. LVP — walk on it immediately (no cure time). Hardwood — wait 24 hours before furniture, longer before area rugs.
